We visited 8 cities in 7 days on our
April 2009 American Cross Country Tour. We left from Sarasota and headed to
Atlanta, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Portland, back to Salt Lake City, Houston,
Atlanta and then back to Sarasota.

We were looking forward to seeing clear skies on our America
Cross Country Tour. On our first stop, Phoenix, we ran into hazy skies. Our
resident expert tells us it is caused by auto pollution and temperature
inversions that trap it in the Phoenix area that is surrounded by mountains.

Phoenix does it right with road gangs and making prisoners sleep
in tents rather then an air conditioned jail.

It may be in the mid 80's here but there is still snow on these
mountains in Utah.

This photo shows the white salt deposits on the outskirts
of Salt Lake in Utah. The lake covers over 1,700 square miles and is the
largest salt lake in the western hemisphere.

Meet Emmi, a 23 year old entrepreneur, who started The
Little Blue Waffle Wagon along with Adrian. We met them on our
OurTown50.com America Tour, in Portland Oregon. She and her partner make
the best homemade waffles filled with apples and a variety of fruit, like
fresh grown Oregon blueberries. She has a small trailer located on a
gravel lot and was written up in Gourmet Magazine. Portland is a way
funky town:)

Mount Hood peaks out through
the clouds at over 12,000 feet as we prepare to land in Portland, Oregon.

A tulip farm from our America Cross Country Tour in Portland, Oregon in
April. Luckily for us their blooms were delayed about a week until we got
there. This tulip field was around a half mile by half mile wide.
Unfortunately, tulips do not grow well in Florida.

While Florida's light commuter rail hangs in the
balance Phoenix's light rail started last December. We took the rail
system on our Tour Across America last week.

A Delta employee in Salt Lake City holds a
wristband. We handed out the wristbands on our cross country tour in April
for two ladies from Sarasota who started the web site.

Deep caverns cut in the earth over Arizona dot the
landscape on the OurTown50.com American Cross Country Tour.
The OurTown50.com America Cross Country Tour including Phoenix, Salt
Lake City, Portland (OR), and Houston completed April 29th. One of our
prize photos above from the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Portland,
Oregon. Watch for additional photos.
